BIOGRAPHY

Alex has been go-karting since he was 7 years old, and travelled around the country as well as competing in the Melbourne City of Titles in 2019. In 2019 he claimed 3NZ in the Vortex Mini Rok class in Hamilton and then 2nd overall in the National Schools Championship in Wellington.

Alex progressed into a car at the age of 12. He started out with some club sport events in a Honda Civic at his local club at Teretonga and started racing in the youth saloon class at Riverside Speedway Invercargill. The skills learned in Speedway have given him great car control.

Alex decided to give Formula Fording a go and we brought a car (92 van diemen) right on the first lock down in 2019. Alex was only 13 when he did his first race meeting in the South Island Formula Ford Championship. Alex had a good season and showed some great improvements from the beginning of the season to the end. We then decided to purchase a brand new (Ray GR21) car for the following season. We also decided to have Motorsport Solutions running him in the new car. This proved a great move and the results showed it. He had multiple podium finishes and it was this consistency that won him the New Zealand Championship. He has built a great relationship with Mitch his mechanic and Steve his engineer.

Alex has made a good start to the 2023 New Zealand Formula Ford Championship with 6 wins from 8 races in the two North Island rounds. The final two rounds are held in the South Island mid-late March. Alex has a 99 point lead over second place.

Alex loves his motorsport whether it is on the hard track in a race car or driving on the dirt at speedway. His current plan for next season is to get plenty of practice in a wings and slicks car and then have a crack at the CTFROC series and then look to racing overseas. Alex is grateful to have Rodin Cars backing him in chasing a second NZFF Championship title.
